poL0's second cd, “Back Home”, is their debut on CAM JAZZ of the quartet made up of Paolo Porta (sax), Valerio De Paola (guitar, live electronics, vocals), Andrea Lombardini (bass) and Michele Salgarello (drums) and doesn't happen in an offhand way. It occurs after two busy years, crowded with recognitions and accomplishments and mostly due to the overall concept that drives the whole project: four distinctive and balanced characters directing their energy into a contemporary and multidirectional music laboratory, trying to catch different sparks and melt them into the same composed and/or improvised material. Blending four different individuals in one single unit is quite a tricky task, yet intriguing and exciting. In the end this goal turns out to be the real strength of a band such as poL0, a group that proves a deep connection with the jazz and other traditions but whose plans are decisively aiming for the future: poL0’s tonal palette is a complex blend of acoustic-electric-electronic sounds that offers a wide range of dynamic and expressive resources to explore. The music included in Back Home represents the effort to reach the essence of an idea and to convey it to the audience in the most convincing, effective and intense way . The band, according to this idea, focused on the balance and the coherence between writing and improvising, in order to make those aspects totally organic and at the service of the meaning of a song, drawing inspirations from many different sources such as pop, indie-rock or post-punk, with no genres boundaries. The acronym of the band name itself, poly oriented Language 0rbits, clearly states the intentions of these four musicians.
